THE FIRST DAUGHTER
*Author's Pov *
The Sayed house had never been this restless before.
Even in the middle of the night, lights glowed through the large halls of the haveli while hurried footsteps echoed across the corridors. The air carried nervous prayers, whispered conversations, and the smell of untouched tea growing cold on the tables.
But unlike before, the house was no longer silent and empty.
Three little boys had already filled the Sayed haveli with life over the years.
Azhaan Sayed, the eldest grandson and son of Shebaaz Sayed, proudly believed he was old enough to understand everything at four years old.
Ayan Sayed, Rayyan Sayed and Inaya Sayed's little son, sat sleepily beside his Dadi Jaan while rubbing his eyes again and again.
And somewhere under the table, three-year-old Arham Sayed, the firstborn of Izaan Sayed and Zoya Sayed, secretly hid sweets in his tiny pockets.
"Arham!" Zara whispered sharply. "Come out from there."
"No," the child answered confidently.
Despite the tension, a few quiet laughs escaped around the room.
Near the staircase, Shebaaz stood with his arms crossed, his strict expression enough to keep the servants alert. Yet every few minutes, his eyes shifted toward the closed door anxiously.
Meanwhile, Mehrunnisa Begum softly prayed under her breath while tasbeeh moved through her fingers.
"Ya Allah, keep my child safe."
Beside her sat Sikandar Sayed, the man everyone feared outside the house and lovingly called Dada Jaan inside it. Silent and commanding as ever, yet tonight even he seemed restless.
Only one thing mattered to the family now : the safety of Inaya and her child.
Then suddenly,
A baby's cry echoed through the hallway.
The entire haveli fell silent.
Even the children stopped moving.
The door slowly opened, and the nurse stepped outside with a gentle smile.
"Mubarak ho," she said softly.
"It's a girl."
A girl.
For a second, nobody reacted.
Then emotions crashed into the room all at once.
Rayyan stared blankly before tears filled his eyes. A shaky laugh escaped him as he covered his face.
Rayyan could barely breathe as the baby's cries echoed through the hallway.
A girl.
His daughter.
For years, the Sayed family had only welcomed sons, and somewhere deep inside his heart, Rayyan had always prayed quietly for a daughter. Not because he loved sons any less, but because he wanted to experience a different kind of love, a softer kind of blessing.
The moment he heard those words, something inside him broke emotionally.
Tears burned his eyes as he lowered his head, whispering softly,
"Alhamdulillah... thank You."
At that moment, he did not care about traditions, family expectations, or the shocked silence around him.
All he cared about was the tiny little life Allah had trusted him with.
His daughter.
A blessing he would spend the rest of his life protecting and loving with everything he had.
Izaan broke into the widest smile. "Finally," he whispered.
Shebaaz looked down quietly, hiding the unexpected softness in his eyes.
Mehrunnisa Begum began crying happily while thanking Allah repeatedly.
And Sikandar Sayed 'The lion of the Sayed family' closed his eyes for a long moment.
A granddaughter.
After generations of sons, the Sayed family had finally welcomed a daughter into their home.
And though nobody realized it yet-
that tiny little girl was about to become
The heart of the entire family.
